Shadow Shot Sunday

It’s the times when I am home when I wouldn’t  usually be home that I am surprised and delighted by the shadows that dance around my house, when no one is looking.

Shadow Shot Sunday celebrates shadows from all over the world.
If you would like to participate, please visit Hey Harriet’s blog.

This week has been a funny week.

I have been alone since last Saturday, when I dropped my Peter man at the airport.

We have not spoken since then (only texted).
I worry that he can’t survive without my guidance screeching in his ear about everything!

He has written, if you can call poking a finger onto letters on the front of an iPhone writing, pages and pages and I have responded.
We have kept up a steady stream of communication, but if I don’t hear something the minute I know he wakes up (six hours after I have woken up) I panic.
He is in South Africa.
Because I know very little about South Africa, I believe he must be in constant danger, so my ‘thoughts’ take over and I imagine all sorts of calamities have occurred.

However, the problem is, in Peter’s words,
“They are really not anywhere near as techno-resourced as we are”
So, if I don’t hear anything it is not because he has been kidnapped, robbed of all his belongings (including his iPhone), eaten by a pack of marauding lions, or become lost on the savannah.

Will I ever be a relaxed, laid back, middle aged woman?
Or will I always be a timid, emotional little child with an overactive imagination?
No need to answer that, thanks.

Suffice to say, I have been alone.
Some things about being alone are good and others not so good, but overall, ‘doable’ as long as I don’t have food in the house – (see binging on anything and everything to relieve the boredom or whatever that dumb emotion is).

I have had time to blog.
I have had time to start a new blog.
What am I thinking?
I don’t even have time for this blog.

I have had time to clean.
I mean, really clean.
Not just a quick wipe over of everything with the nearest tissue or washing the floor with a piece of absorbent paper.
Well, that’s the plan, anyway.

So, I will get on with it.

I wanted to leave you with some words from today’s sermon.
The sermons at our church are usually very short – today’s was a bit longer (about 15 minutes).
I don’t think I need to go into detail and I don’t think you need to be a church-goer or even a believer in God for these words to resonate in your spirit like they did mine.

“We need beauty and we need magnificence to stimulate the soul”

Shadow Shot Sunday

It’s been such a while, but here I am for Shadow Shot Sunday.

I was off work, sick, a few weeks ago. I usually go into work later, when I feel better, but this day, I didn’t. I took the whole day off.

I was in my house when the shadows came, stayed and faded.

I was home all day, except for going out later to fetch the ingredients for dinner.

There really is no rest for the wicked.

Shadow Shot Sunday can be found at Hey Harriet.
I’ve missed all of this.
Go check it out and all are welcome to join in.
What a lovely bunch of people.

We’re still alive.
We’re still renovating..
Still thinking of you,

All the love in the world.

Where else on a Sunday, but church?
Twice today;
once to worship
and a second time to St John’s in Fremantle for a recital
and this is where my shadow shot comes from
(well, I can listen and take photos at the same time!)

To view and participate in Shadow Shot Sunday
a quick visit to Hey Harriet is all it takes!

Wrapping up Sunday.

Just munching on a wild hibiscus flower.

Tomorrow renovations continue.
Fridge is in the lounge room.
How very convenient for bubbles top ups,
but not so much for reaching for the butter

Our music from Restaurant Pearl plays on, not really in the background,
because it’s Sunday evening.
Our little, private party time.

Peter has flown to Sydney and back, we have been to church twice and now,
finally time to rest and recreate!

Ready for Monday
and another week!

All the love in the world.

Luv u Buddy!

Today I found something.
It was made of sticks and it was beautiful.
It was perfect.
I felt like a little kid, spotting it, disbelieving, running over to gently scoop it up.

How I love nature.
Shells, birds, cats, lizards, rocks, gum nuts, seed pods, leaves, bark.
I have collected them all, ever since I was little.
Beetles, worms, egg shells.
How can things that man hasn’t made be so perfect?

Today I found the most perfect birds nest.
Each twig intertwined with another.
An exquisite circular basket.
Cosily lined with poly filler.
A little mattress for the eggs and hatchlings!

I hope no little ones are without a home tonight.
I looked for signs of disaster.
Broken eggs, lost babies.
There was nothing obvious.
So I took my treasure inside, excited about this gift from nature.
And I couldn’t stop thinking my deep thoughts (that I think too much).
How can a bird be so clever?
How can they know how to do this?
Are birds more clever than humans?
And almost in the instant I think these thoughts, the answer comes.
It is God.
This can only come from God.
“Of course”, I say!

Obvious to me.
Maybe not to everyone.
Not the first conclusion everyone would reach.

Then again, I’m not sure that everyone would think that deeply about a birds nest.
I’m not sure everyone would be excited and overjoyed to find one.
Or even notice it sitting there in the carpark.
I know for a fact that the owner of that particular parking bay would have run it over and not even have noticed.
And that makes me sad.

I kind of feel a bit of my heart break when I think about how much beauty surrounds us, quietly, humbly, mostly unnoticed.
It makes me sad because we have created a world filled with noise, busy-ness, carelessness, haste, waste and ignorance.

Birds sing a salute to the sun each morning and each evening.
Did you notice?
Did your heart swell with joy when you heard?

The sun paints the sky in the east and in the west every day.
More dazzling than anything an artist’s brush could create.
Did you notice today?
Did your heart sing at the beauty of it?

Did you see them today?
The jacarandas are beginning to bloom!
Did you sigh just because you love Spring?

A birds nest.

Is all it took to make me happy today.

And a little girl on a scooter.
Reminded me of myself when I was little and rode my scooter like the wind.
One little leg, madly swinging, propelling, swinging, propelling.

From Song of Songs 2:12

Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.

May your day be filled with all things joyous, beautiful and peaceful..

As many of you know, Blogtoberfest is happening this month.
It has not been the easiest thing, blogging every day, especially when it is an ordinary, working month. So I have tried every day to make it interesting.
Today I have taken the easy option. A meme started by Cath at Chunky Chooky and passed onto Cathy at Tinniegirl.

So here we go:
4 things that I always carry:
1. Lip stuffs – lipstick, lip shimmer, lip balm
2. Mobile phone
3. Diary
4. Compact mirror

4 things that are in my bedroom
1. Bible
2. Perfumes – Dior Forever and Ever, Dior Addict Shine, Bvlgari something, musk oil, etc, etc
3. Photos of my beloved cats, Mischka & Copper who are in heaven
4. Box of tissues

4 Things that I would like to do but haven’t done yet
1. Visit our Compassion children
2. Work in a shop
3. Win lotto
4. Live in a country other than Australia

4 things that you don’t know about me:
1. I have a phobia
2. I first married at the age of 40 (and am still married)
3. I go by the name of ‘Meanie’
4. Botox is my friend

4 things I often wonder
1. When will Jesus come again?
2. Why is our water consumption at our weekender higher than the average for the suburb, when we’re only there about four days of the month?
3. When will we go to Japan again?
4. Why did God create things like snails, slugs and snakes? I mean REALLY. WHY?

So there you go. If you were interested in the first place. I’m very grateful to the people who come up with these memes, especially during Blogtoberfest. That’s got me off the hook for today.

However, I will still give you an AFFIRMATION A DAY!
That was my commitment at the beginning of Blogtoberfest and I will stick to it, besides, I need them more than anyone and it forces me to look at my bible every day (which is a great thing).

Proverbs 14:30

A heart at peace gives life to the body,
but envy rots the bones.

Sorry for the abrupt end, but I must go to bed now….

God bless y’all!
