Returning the Dead in Tohoku

Rather difficult to capture with an I-phone, but here in Ogatsu-cho it
is the final day of obon, the time when the dead return to visit the
living. Here they send the spirits off in floating lanterns, tonight
watched over by the just waning moon. They move so slowly , taken by
the tide, as if the spirits are asking for one more day…

  1. I can just imagine the depth of feeling during Obon this year.

Thank you for these posts, sorry I have been bad on commenting lately, but I have been meaning to say something. Your post a little while back on the current situation was really touching and it’s really important that we continue to talk about it, help in any way we can and keep Japan in our hearts and thoughts xxx
